The story of how Joe Hutto headed deep into the wilderness to become mother to sixteen wild turkeys is Florida’s version of Ring of Bright Water or an avian Born Free. Hutto’s life was forever changed when a local farmer left a basket of eggs on his doorstep. Having an interest in imprinting young animals, he incubated the eggs and waited for them to hatch. Hutto went on to raise the 15 newborn Turkeys into adulthood. It’s hard to imagine that a young turkey can become a character like an otter or lion, but that is just one of the revelations that lie behind this extraordinary story. The film won an Emmy in America and the prestigious best of festival award at the UK’s Wildscreen Film Festival.
