Kate Beckinsale and Chloë Sevigny excel in Whit Stillman's witty adaptation of Jane Austen’s novella Lady Susan. Having previously worked together on the 1998 film The Last Days of Disco the two women scheme their way through Stillman’s social comedy as they attempt to find a new husband for the widow (Beckinsale) as well as one for her daughter. Austen herself would have been proud of this adaptation with all its social mores and behind the scenes snobbery and conventions.
