A New Day In Old Sana'a

"A new Day in Old Sana'a" tells the story of Tariq, a young Yemeni man, who is torn between love and tradition. Shortly before his arranged wedding with Bilqis, the daughter of an influential judge, Tariq falls in love with an unknown woman on the street. Filmed entirely in the ancient magical city of Sana'a in 2005 and shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006, the first feature film to come out of Yemen gives an insight into the life and culture of Yemen and shows its magical and beautiful side. However, for the past two years Yemen has been suffering from a war that has rapidly turned into a humanitarian crisis.

All proceeds of this evening will therefore be donated to Doctors Without Borders, who are working to help the people of Yemen.
