Kids' Whirled: April and the Extraordinary World (PG)

We're screening this amazing animation by the producers of the Academy Award-nominated Persepolis and the mind of renowned graphic novelist Jacques Tardi.

In an alternate past where electricity hasn’t yet been discovered and the Napoleonic Empire was never defeated, Paris is run by steam power and any scientists not working to forward the aims of the Empire have mysteriously disappeared. April is an orphan from a long line of scientists, whose parents have been tragically killed in a freak accident while on the run from the police. With the help of her cat Darwin – who can talk thanks to an early prototype of an invincibility serum her parents were working on – April spends her life in her secret lab trying to complete their work and keep her progress hidden from the Empire’s spies in this imaginative animated adventure.
